Brixton Hill Group Practice has been running face to face appointments throughout the pandemic.
We have been offering a telephone first appointments system at the practice since 2018 - which continues the same as ever. This system has allowed us to offer many more appointments to our patients per day. Anyone wishing or needing to be seen by a doctor or pharmacist after their telephone call will be called in the same day. If you feel like you need to be seen face to face, please let your clinician know when they call.
Where possible, if it is convenient for you, we also offer video consultations and for photographs to be sent securely, which can reducing the need for you to travel into the surgery to be examined.
If you are suddenly taken ill and cannot wait until the next available routine appointment, please phone the surgery during opening hours and explain your situation to the receptionist who will advise you of the best type of appointment dependent upon your circumstances. It is best to do this in the morning so we can find the time to accommodate your request.
If the emergency occurs when we are closed and you need to speak to a GP, please call the out of hours service - 111.
A chaperone is a trained member of staff who can accompany a patient as an impartial observer into their consultation.
They can provide emotional comfort and reassurance and can provide e support if an examination is required.
You may want to request a chaperone to accompany you if:
- you are concerned about your consultation
- you would like a third-party observer
- your GP has suggested a chaperone accompany you.
If you would like a chaperone, please ask at reception when you check-in for your appointment.
